THE ANSWER TO REHAB CLIENTS' NEEDS!
Some people regain high quality of life after a health setback,
while others "learn to live with" pain, reduced mobility and other
conditions that needlessly become chronic. The difference? Often
it's the effectiveness of the person's rehabilitation.

A CUSTOMIZED PROGRAM
Our rehab staff meets with the client, the family and the referring physician to customize an innovative rehabilitation program that directly addresses each rehab client's needs. Our approach differs from programs at other rehab facilities in many ways:
- Because our clinical team remains constant, our therapists stay on top of day-to-day developments and establish a warm, one-on-one relationship with each rehab client.
-
Our department boasts the latest equipment, which enables our staff to achieve the best results possible today.
We track the rehab client's progress, and we include client satisfaction ratings in our review.
Communication is a priority at The Terrace! Residents and family members are welcome to attend all care plan meetings, which take place within two weeks of admission and as needed thereafter.
Our staff writes out a customized post-rehab program for each client to follow upon discharge.

AN EXTENDED FAMILY!
Rehab clients have access to the experience and excellence in caring that have been the hallmark of The Bethany Terrace in meeting the needs of the North Shore since 1965. Rehab clients also may be eligible to live at The Bethany Terracer in our newly opened Sylvester Suites, which offers private, apartment-style living with onsite nursing care.
PIONEERS IN THE FIELD
With the 1984 launch of our Alzheimer’s Care Center, The Bethany Terrace became one of the earliest providers of care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. This extensive experience has given us a unique perspective into programs beneficial to those with early, middle and late stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
OPENING WINDOWS OF LIGHT
Our staff has learned that you can never go wrong with Alzheimer’s and dementia residents by relating to them with understanding, respect, encouragement and love. This gentle touch reassures these residents and makes them feel safe and valued. By encouraging activity and strengthening relationships, we have been able to minimize the use of medication and restraints. Residents with early-stage dementia live a full life at The Terrace. Located in the secured, sunny area, our exceptional early-stage program emphasizes socialization and varied activities. Every resident’s care plan becomes highly individualized as we get to know the residents and observe how they respond to each of our many therapies. Our recently renovated area reserved for those with more severe Alzheimer’s and dementia provides these residents with a light, cheery, airy environment. The homey decor has been designed with contrasting colors to help with depth perception, while artwork in rooms and hallways provides visual stimulation and homelike appeal.
Our program, conducted seven days a week, offers:
- Outings into the community
- Recreation
- Cooking classes
- Memory joggers
- Music therapy
- Gardening therapy
- Pet therapy
- A walking path and other opportunities for exercise
The environment is always a priority at The Bethany Terrace, where we attend to the smallest details to minimize disorientation and keep residents safe and comfortable. We also incorporate the peaceful and familiar elements of nature.
- Our outdoor garden and patio, complete with a glider, provide socializing opportunities in the fresh air.
- Our Breeding Aviary calms residents as they sit on benches and watch the birds. Surrounded by hand-painted murals, this beautifully designed space gives residents a chance to interact with each other and feel as if they’re outside.
- Seating areas are conveniently placed in corridors for residents who tend to pace.
- All Alzheimer’s and dementia areas are secured to prevent residents from wandering outside the unit.
- Our unique Sensory Stimulation Room offers aroma therapy and sight, sound and tactile props to both calm the residents and stimulate the senses.
- Family/spouse support groups that meet monthly
- Respite stays to relieve the caregiver
- Advice from neurologists and geriatricians
- Resource library with tapes and reading material
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
- Member of the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses Society
- Optional membership in the AAWC
